Netanyahu Holds Security Meeting to Address Deadly Attack in Nablus

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced plans to hold a meeting today with Defense Minister Yisrael Katz and Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir to discuss the response to what he described as a "deadly attack" that occurred Friday morning at the Havat Gilad settlement in the northern West Bank.

According to Israeli media, Netanyahu stated, "We will act decisively against the terrorists and those behind them and will not allow terrorism in the West Bank to reemerge," using his own words.

The remarks from Netanyahu followed an assault near the Havat Gilad settlement, close to the village of Tal near Nablus in the northern West Bank, which resulted in one Israeli killed and three others seriously injured.

Israeli newspaper Israel Hayom reported that the attack involved a Palestinian who seized a weapon from a settlement guard and opened fire on settlers, causing the initial casualty and injuries.

On Thursday, a settler was killed after being stabbed near the Alon Moreh settlement, while two Palestinians suspected of carrying out the Nablus attack were shot.

Following the stabbing incident, Defense Minister Yisrael Katz vowed that Israel would proceed with establishing more settlements in the West Bank.

Katz added that the upcoming phase would see the "organization of additional settlement outposts," describing this as part of Israel's security concept.
