North Korea Condemns Japan’s Tomahawk Missile Tests Amid Regional Security Concerns

North Korea has formally condemned Japan’s recent tests of Tomahawk missiles, declaring it will not stand by as a passive observer in the face of Japan’s military advancement.

Kim Yo Jong, Deputy Head of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea, stated that the missile tests pose a direct threat to North Korea’s security and to that of other nations in the region.

Japan’s Military Transformation

In a statement, she asserted that Japan is accelerating its transformation into a militarized state, leveraging what she described as “sharp and rapid changes” in the current international situation.

She emphasized that Pyongyang “will not remain a passive observer regarding Japan’s military development,” particularly in light of decisions being taken by Tokyo.

U.S.-Backed Testing Confirmed

Japan’s Ministry of Defense previously announced it had conducted Tomahawk missile tests with support from the U.S. Navy, characterizing the trials as a “manifestation of progress” within its missile program.
