South Korea reports North Korea launched an unidentified projectile into the Yellow Sea off the Korean Peninsula's west coast.

The South Korean military announced that North Korea fired an unspecified projectile toward the Yellow Sea on Tuesday, near the western coast of the Korean Peninsula.
The Joint Chiefs of Staff stated in a release that "the North launched an unspecified projectile toward the West Sea," referring to the Yellow Sea located between the Korean Peninsula and China. The statement did not provide further details.
This incident follows North Korea's previous launch on April 19, when Pyongyang fired several short-range missiles, which official media described as a demonstration of cluster warheads.
Since the collapse of nuclear diplomacy with U.S. President Donald Trump in 2019, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has focused on expanding his country's nuclear and missile arsenal. Trump repeatedly expressed willingness to resume talks with Kim, but Pyongyang has so far ignored these overtures, demanding that Washington abandon its denuclearization demands as a precondition for any negotiations.
North Korea has also threatened to respond to a U.S. arms deal with its southern neighbor.
