Pakistani Army Chief Says Iran-US Agreement Is Near

On Monday, Pakistani Army Chief Asim Munir declared that a deal between Iran and the United States is close to being reached.
Munir, who serves as the chief negotiator in talks between the US and Iran, made these remarks during his meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
According to Pakistani television, Munir is accompanying Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on an official visit to China.
In a related development, Chinese President Xi Jinping praised the "strong" friendship between China and Pakistan on Monday while receiving the Pakistani Prime Minister, aiming to strengthen their partnership "under all circumstances," Reuters reported.
China regards Pakistan as one of a select group of countries designated as a "strategic partner under all circumstances," with their relationship characterized by close cooperation in economic, trade, and security sectors.
