US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said “good news” on the Strait of Hormuz could be announced in the next few hours, adding that “some progress” had been made over the past 48 hours on “the broad outlines that may resolve the Strait of Hormuz crisis.”
He also said President Donald Trump remains committed to the principle of not allowing Iran to obtain a nuclear weapon.
Rubio’s remarks on Iran
Rubio said these developments were part of efforts aimed at containing tensions linked to the Iranian file, as political and diplomatic moves continue in the region.
He added: “No country in the world funds terrorism more than Iran,” saying it is “holding commercial ships hostage in the Strait of Hormuz.”
