Vitali Klitschko, the mayor of Kyiv, said in a post on "Telegram" that Russia bombed the Ukrainian capital with ballistic missiles in the early hours of Thursday morning, and urged residents to take shelter.

Eyewitnesses reported hearing multiple explosions in the city, hours after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky warned of a possible large-scale Russian attack on Ukraine.

Vitali Klitschko stated that fires broke out at some non-residential sites in the capital Kyiv, according to "Reuters".

Zelensky said that the safety of Ukrainians depends on the readiness of allies to provide missile defenses, following his return from Washington where he said President Donald Trump agreed to grant Ukraine licenses for "Patriot" missiles.
