Russian Defense Ministry Reports Night Strike on Ukrainian Ports, Sinks Two Arms-Carrying Vessels

The Russian Defense Ministry announced continued strikes against Ukrainian port facilities, maritime supply routes, and logistics infrastructure supporting Kyiv’s armed forces. According to the ministry, a nighttime operation on 3 August targeted the ports of Yuzhny and Mykolaiv and resulted in the destruction of two vessels loaded with weapons in the Black Sea.

Strike Targets and Weapon Systems Used

The ministry’s statement specified that attacks in the Odesa region employed precision ground-based weapons and unmanned aerial vehicles. These systems were used against port infrastructure and naval assets directly serving Ukraine’s armed forces.

In Chornomorsk port, the strikes hit the Black Sea Automobile Assembly Plant and the port’s terminal facility. The ministry asserted that Ukrainian armed forces were conducting maintenance and repair of military automotive equipment at the plant and using the terminal for storing ammunition, fuel, and lubricants.

Damage to Dry Cargo Vessels

At Mykolaiv port, a dry cargo ship carrying military-purpose cargo was destroyed. At Yuzhny port, another dry cargo vessel engaged in unloading military shipments was also struck and damaged.

Additionally, the ministry reported that two dry cargo ships transporting weapons and military equipment toward Ukrainian ports were intercepted and targeted while transiting the Black Sea south of Odesa. Both vessels were sunk during that maritime engagement, the statement confirmed.
