The Israeli army has inaugurated a new artificial intelligence unit, named 'Alomot', under the Information and Cyber Defense Division at the Gideonim airbase, aiming to enhance information superiority and develop AI capabilities for battlefield challenges.

The Israeli army inaugurated a new artificial intelligence unit, which in its activity follows the Information and Cyber Defense Division at the "Gideonim" airbase.
The Seventh Hebrew Channel reported that the inauguration of the new unit, which bore the name "Alomot", comes amid changing combat challenges and the increasing need for rapid development of information and artificial intelligence capabilities on the battlefield.
The unit is scheduled to become an operational technical center for developing information platforms, information processing capabilities, and their delivery to Israeli army forces.
It also consists of fighters, technicians, information researchers, and artificial intelligence experts, and will work in close cooperation with all branches and bodies of the Israeli army to adapt technical solutions to the needs of field fighters.
The establishment of "Alomot" reflects the need to continue enhancing the Israeli army's information superiority on the battlefield and in the cognitive competition with the enemy, according to sources from the Hebrew channel.
The unit's inauguration ceremony was held in the presence of the head of the Communications and Cyber Defense Division, General Aviad Dagan, the head of the Information and Artificial Intelligence Department, and the unit commander.
For his part, Dagan said: "The combination of the field fighter and the advanced technical capabilities possessed by the Israeli army is what enabled the achievement of many war successes. The battlefield is evolving before our eyes, requiring us to constantly learn and innovate. The 'Alomot' unit will work to develop our capabilities in the field of information and artificial intelligence and make them available to fighters on the front lines."
