The Swedish Armed Forces announced on Thursday that seven individuals sustained injuries during an incident at the Kråkåsen military shooting range in central Sweden. The event occurred shortly after 4 p.m. local time (14:00 GMT), according to spokesperson Mikael Ågren, who spoke to Agence France-Presse.

Workplace incident under police investigation

Ågren stated that authorities are treating the matter as a workplace accident. All seven injured persons were civilian employees of the Swedish Armed Forces and were not conscripted or active-duty military personnel.

Explosion reports and unconfirmed details

Swedish media outlets reported an explosion at the site, prompting emergency response teams to be dispatched. However, Ågren declined to confirm the nature of the incident. The newspaper Aftonbladet cited information indicating the event took place during a procedure to dispose of old unexploded munitions.

Injuries and medical treatment

According to SVT television, five of the injured are receiving care in intensive care units. The Swedish Armed Forces specified that the injuries include shrapnel wounds from projectiles, among other trauma.
