Supporters of Maduro Burn US and Israeli Flags in Caracas

About 100 individuals backing Nicolás Maduro, the Venezuelan leader detained in the United States, set fire to the American and Israeli flags on Friday in Simón Bolívar Square located in central Caracas.

The demonstrators chanted slogans opposing the United States, which has detained the former president and currently maintains a strong presence in Venezuela.

Activists shared videos on social media platforms capturing the moment when protesters burned the US and Israeli flags.

Protesters also stepped on images of US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu while shouting slogans such as "Americans, go back home" and "This is not aid, it is occupation," referring to the assistance Washington provided to Venezuela following the two devastating earthquakes on June 24.

On the same day, President Trump told reporters at the White House that Venezuela is not yet ready to hold elections but has made significant progress under acting President Delcy Rodríguez.

Trump stated, "Venezuela is not ready for elections, and Delcy Rodríguez is doing a great job."

Separately, United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres arrived in Syria, marking the first visit by a UN chief since before the war.
