Trump Accuses Senators of Undermining US Stance on Iran

President Donald Trump accused several members of the US Senate on Wednesday of weakening his administration's position toward Iran following the Senate's vote in favor of a resolution calling for an end to American military operations against Tehran.

In a post on the Truth Social platform, Trump stated that Iran is "in a critical position, on the verge of collapse, and ready to give almost anything," adding that the country "shows great respect for the United States and its president."

Trump described the Senate's vote on the War Powers Act as "poorly timed and pointless," asserting that the resolution sent a message to Iran indicating that the United States does not support his policy, which he characterized as "providing aid and comfort to the enemy."

He also criticized four Republican senators who voted alongside Democrats, saying their stance complicates his efforts but affirmed that he "will get it done, one way or another."

The Republican-controlled Senate approved on Tuesday a bill aimed at halting US military actions targeting Iran, though the impact of this measure on the ongoing conflict remains unclear as the Trump administration negotiates a peace agreement with Iran.

The Senate passed the joint resolution by a 50-48 vote, endorsing a measure previously approved by the House of Representatives earlier this month. This vote reflects growing concern among some Republicans loyal to Trump over the unpopular war that erupted on February 28.

The Senate's decision stands in opposition to President Trump's position by voting to end the war with Iran.
