Trump says he and Xi Jinping share the goal of preventing Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons and keeping the Strait of Hormuz open.

A shared commitment to preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons and ensuring the freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz marked the discussions between U.S. President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping, according to Trump speaking to Reuters. The remarks came as Trump wrapped up his official visit to Beijing.
The two leaders met at the Zhongnanhai leadership compound, adjacent to the Forbidden City, where Xi greeted Trump with a handshake on the second and final day of talks, as reported by AFP. Trump stated, "We came up with solutions to many different problems that others were not able to solve."
The U.S. president had previously expressed hope that relations with China would become stronger and better than ever.
