During a stroll through the Zhongnanhai leadership compound on Friday, U.S. President Donald Trump declared that he and Chinese President Xi Jinping had finalized "great trade deals" beneficial to both countries. "A lot of positive things came out of it," Trump stated from the gardens of the central Chinese leadership complex, adding that the agreements were "great for both countries."

The announcement came on the second and final day of talks between the two leaders, according to AFP. Xi greeted Trump with a handshake at the Zhongnanhai compound, which sits adjacent to Beijing's Forbidden City.

Earlier, Trump had expressed hope that U.S.-China relations would be stronger and better than "ever before." For his part, Xi emphasized that the common interests between the two nations outweigh their differences, insisting that Beijing and Washington should be partners, not adversaries.
