Trump Announces Rare Republican Conference to Boost Midterm Majority
President Donald Trump will hold a rare Republican conference in Dallas this September to strengthen the party's position ahead of the November midterm elections.

President Donald Trump has declared plans to organize an uncommon Republican Party conference during the midpoint of his second term, aiming to bolster the party's standing ahead of the midterm elections scheduled for November.
The Republicans currently hold a slim majority in Congress, and their leaders are concerned about the difficulty of mobilizing voters without Trump appearing on the ballot, especially since the ruling party typically loses seats in midterm elections. Trump hopes that the conference will help alter this dynamic.
The conference is set to take place in Dallas, Texas, on September 9 and 10.
Trump posted on Truth Social, stating, "We will use this event to showcase the great things we have done since 2024, and it will be an unprecedented gathering."
The selection of Dallas highlights the Senate race in Texas, where Democratic candidate James Talarico faces Republican candidate Ken Paxton, the state's Attorney General. Republican leaders worry that Paxton's history of scandals could undermine his candidacy, turning a potentially winnable race into a costly drain on party resources.
Meanwhile, the Democratic National Committee has rejected the idea of hosting a similar conference, citing concerns over the high costs amid its debt challenges. Democrats have noted that the Republican conference will serve as an opportunity to link their candidates closely with Trump. The Republican National Committee began preparations for this conference earlier in the year.
