Trump stated the US defeated Iran and described the killing of its leadership as regime change, while noting negotiations are progressing and a deal is "very possible."

President Donald Trump declared on Wednesday that the United States has prevailed over Iran, characterizing the elimination of senior figures within the country's leadership as a form of regime change. "For me, that is regime change," he said.
Trump reported that his administration has engaged in "very good negotiations" with Tehran over the past 24 hours. He stated that Iran "desperately wants" to reach an agreement, adding, "It is very possible that we will reach a deal." The president described the current situation regarding Iran as "very good" and said matters are proceeding smoothly.
"I think we have defeated Iran," Trump asserted. "Iran needs 20 years to rebuild, if we leave now."
Earlier on Wednesday, Trump had indicated that "there is a very good chance to end the war" with Tehran, while simultaneously threatening a return to "devastating bombing" against Iran if a resolution is not achieved. In remarks to PBS, he stated, "We are very close to reaching an agreement with Iran, and we will have to go back to devastating bombing if the matter is not concluded."
When asked about leaked reports of a potential imminent agreement to end the conflict, Trump responded, "I feel we are close to finalizing a deal, but let's see what happens."
