US President Donald Trump confirmed that the incident that occurred during the White House Correspondents' Dinner will not deter him from winning the war against Iran.

Responding to a question at a White House press conference about whether there is a connection between the shooting and the Iran war, Trump said: "I don't think so."

He added that assassination attempts are repeated, but stressed that tonight's incident should serve as a catalyst for national unity, not a reason for further fragmentation.

Trump noted that current indications suggest the attacker acted alone "most likely," indicating that authorities would fully determine this as investigations progress.

Trump considered that the hotel in Washington that hosted the White House Correspondents' Dinner on Saturday evening, where security men exchanged fire with a "potential killer," is not a "particularly secure" facility.

He noted that the gunman was quickly arrested by security personnel, indicating that one security officer was injured, confirming that he was in contact with him and that his condition is good.

He also noted that security authorities are raiding the suspect's apartment in California, after his arrest in Washington. He described the perpetrator of the attack as "a very sick person," stressing the need to prevent such incidents from happening again in the country.

Trump called on all Americans to renew their commitment to resolving political differences through peaceful means, away from violence, and revealed that an attempt was made to persuade Secret Service men to continue with the dinner, but they refused. He also announced that the White House Correspondents' Dinner will be rescheduled within 30 days.

An FBI official announced on Sunday that a suspect shot a Secret Service agent during the White House Correspondents' Dinner.

US President Donald Trump was evacuated from the event hall, which was scheduled at the Hilton Hotel.

The official added that the suspect shot a Secret Service agent but he is in good condition.

The Secret Service said one person was detained for investigation in connection with the shooting at the White House Correspondents' Dinner.
