US President Donald Trump signaled he might abandon agreements made in Anchorage, Alaska, which involved Russia's control over Donbas, according to Axios sources.

According to Axios, President Donald Trump indicated a potential withdrawal from commitments made with Russia in Anchorage, Alaska, including Russia's control over the Donbas region.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated on Friday that Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed Washington's proposals on Ukraine with the US president during the Alaska summit, and that the Russian side agreed to them. Lavrov added that it is inappropriate for US Secretary of State Marco Rubio to claim no agreement was reached in Anchorage.
Earlier, Rubio had described the summit between the Russian and US presidents in Alaska as producing only "proposals without resulting in actual agreements" regarding the Ukraine issue.
Axios reported that Trump hinted he might abandon the Anchorage agreements under which the United States accepted Russia's demand for control over Donbas as part of any settlement.
An unnamed senior US official told Axios in an interview that Trump appears to be referring to applying pressure on Russia, but other leaders "do not believe he will take any action on this."
On the previous Thursday, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova noted Moscow’s observation of, regrettably, a certain "deviation" by one party concerning the outcomes of the Alaska meeting, which have yet to be realized.
In the summer of 2025, the Russian and US presidents held talks in Anchorage to discuss ways to resolve the Ukraine conflict. Following the summit, the Russian president expressed the possibility of resolving the conflict and affirmed Russia's desire to reach a long-term settlement.
