US President Donald Trump announced that he had offered the president of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), Dana White, the position of official White House spokesperson, in a move that sparked widespread interest due to the nature of the candidate and his close relationship with the US president.

The announcement came via a post by Trump on his Truth Social platform on Saturday, where he explicitly invited White to accept the position, stating that he would be an "unprecedented" White House spokesperson.

White House spokesperson Karine Jean-Pierre left her position on October 16, less than a week after her appointment.

In his post, Trump suggested that White bring along several mixed martial arts stars as assistants, mentioning several names.

Trump joked that these individuals would help defend the United States against what he described as the "crazy left."

No comment has been issued by White regarding his acceptance of the offer. Media reports indicate that White had previously expressed no interest in entering politics or holding a government position.

President Trump also surprised those around the White House by announcing the departure of Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, the woman described in Washington as the president's mind and the most influential voice in the Oval Office, who has long received constant praise from her boss on both private and public occasions, immediately following the Republicans' loss in the midterm elections.
