Trump Posts AI-Generated Image Threatening Iran
US President Donald Trump shared an artificial intelligence-crafted image showing himself on a warship with the caption “the calm before the storm,” as internal divisions emerge within his administration over how to handle the conflict with Iran.

Donald Trump has posted an image generated using artificial intelligence, depicting himself aboard a US Navy warship amid rough seas alongside a senior naval officer, with Iranian-flagged boats and military vessels visible in the background. The US president accompanied the picture with the English phrase “It was the calm before the storm,” a message that triggered widespread engagement on social media platforms as tensions between Washington and Tehran continue to escalate.
CNN reported Saturday, citing sources familiar with the discussions, that differing viewpoints exist within the Trump administration on the path forward regarding the Iran war file. As Trump’s frustration with diplomatic efforts to end the conflict with Iran has grown, his administration’s officials have been closely monitoring whether the president’s trip to China—a nation with close ties to Tehran—would produce a major breakthrough.
Internal Administration Divide
According to the sources, a number of officials, including Pentagon personnel, have pushed for adopting a tougher approach that would involve precision strikes, hoping such action would increase pressure on Iran and compel it to make concessions. On the other side, others have called for maintaining focus on the diplomatic track—an option Trump himself has embraced in recent weeks, betting that combining direct negotiations with economic pressure might push Tehran toward an agreement, the sources said.
Iran, however, has shown no substantive change in its conditions since Trump announced a ceasefire last April, and has offered few concessions within the framework of ongoing talks, according to the same sources.
