Trump Says No Rush to Send Nuclear Inspectors to Iran

President Donald Trump confirmed on Tuesday that the United States is pursuing a final agreement with Iran.

He described Tehran as "wrong" regarding the inspections carried out by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), indicating that the agency's inspectors will be present on the ground at the appropriate time, referring to the UN missions inspecting Iran's nuclear sites.

Trump emphasized, "There is no need to rush sending nuclear inspectors to Iran," adding, "If Iran wants trouble, let them seek nuclear weapons."

Meanwhile, the US Central Command announced that the aircraft carrier USS George H. W. Bush (CVN 77) is sailing in the Arabian Sea, while two US aircraft carriers continue their operations in the Middle East amid the ongoing presence and readiness of US forces.

Separately, Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani stated that Italy might play a role in any future arrangements to maintain the ceasefire in Lebanon. He noted that discussions should focus on the nature of international or European presence following the conclusion of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) mission at the end of the year.

Tajani highlighted the need to consider next steps after UNIFIL's mandate ends, including the possibility of a European role to help ensure the continuation of the ceasefire and to consolidate a potential peace between Lebanon and Israel.

He indicated that any potential European or international mission should concentrate on strengthening the authority of the Lebanese state, considering President Joseph Aoun as a guarantor at this stage.

The Italian Foreign Minister stressed the importance of enabling the Lebanese army to extend its control over the entire country, noting that Italy is already involved in training the Lebanese army and can expand this support in the coming phase.

In another development, US Vice President J.D. Vance affirmed that US communications with Iran regarding Lebanon aim to ensure Iran pressures Hezbollah to comply with its commitments. This was in response to a message from Samir Geagea, leader of the Lebanese Forces party.

Vance pointed out that Washington recognizes President Joseph Aoun and the Lebanese government as the sole legitimate authority in Lebanon and intends to work with the Lebanese state to protect its sovereignty and reinforce its legitimate authority, according to a statement issued by the Lebanese Forces party.
