US President Donald Trump warned Iran that if it rejects his “final” peace proposal, American bombing will resume at a “much higher level.”

US President Donald Trump has warned Iran that if it fails to accept his “final” peace proposal, American bombing will resume at a “much higher level.” The threat came a day after the suspension of “Operation Project Freedom,” a mission to secure a commercial shipping lane through the Strait of Hormuz that had only just begun, according to the Washington Post.
US military forces continue to obstruct Iranian vessels in the region. The US Central Command posted on X that American troops fired multiple times on Wednesday at an unloaded Iranian-flagged oil tanker, disabling it as it attempted to sail toward an Iranian port in violation of the blockade.
Trump told reporters at the White House that Iran has already agreed to at least parts of the American proposal, as the two governments have been exchanging documents through Pakistani mediators in recent days. He expressed optimism—as he has several times in recent weeks—that a deal could be reached soon. “We have to get what we have to get,” Trump said. “If we don’t, we’ll have to take a bigger step. But… they want to make a deal. We’ve had very good talks over the last 24 hours.”

Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei countered that his government is still reviewing the American “framework” sent on Sunday in response to Iran’s latest 14-point plan. In an interview with the semi-official Iranian Student News Agency (ISNA), Baghaei said, “Once we have finished determining our positions, the Pakistani side will be informed.”
Tehran has previously rejected US claims that it has already agreed to concessions on dismantling its nuclear program and future restrictions on it. Iran insists its proposal is limited to the Strait of Hormuz, where more than 1,500 commercial vessels remain waiting to cross the vital waterway that Tehran has closed.
Baghaei stated on Sunday, as Iran began reviewing the American response, “There are absolutely no details regarding the country’s nuclear issues in this proposal.” Iran had proposed postponing nuclear talks to a later date after the war ends.
The conflicting political and military stances from Iran are complicating the situation in the Strait of Hormuz.
