On Friday, President Donald Trump introduced a prototype of a new limited-edition American passport that displays a sharp and stern portrait of himself. This release coincided with the 250th anniversary of the United States' independence.

Trump shared the design on his social media platform Truth Social, writing: "The new American passport, which says: Welcome, but behave yourself!" alongside the prototype image of the travel document.

The passport's cover shows Trump with a focused gaze, leaning on the Resolute desk inside the White House. Behind him is the original Declaration of Independence text with his signature at the bottom of the page. The opposite page features an image from John Trumbull's painting "Declaration of Independence," depicting the signing moment in 1776, accompanied by the phrase "United States of America 250."

Later, the White House's official account on the platform X posted the same passport design shown in Trump's message, captioning it: "A new American passport to commemorate the 250th anniversary of America's founding."

The limited-edition travel document was initially announced in April as part of the United States' 250th founding celebrations. It was described as having a "custom artistic design and enhanced images on the front cover, back cover, and inside the cover."

CNN reported at the time that a U.S. official stated the new passport would only be issued by the Passport Agency in Washington once available. The official added that options to obtain the passport featuring Trump's image online or at other locations would not be offered.
