Trump Urges Lindsey Graham's Sister to Run for U.S. Senate Seat
Donald Trump has called on Darline Graham, sister of the late Senator Lindsey Graham, to run in the South Carolina Republican primary for the U.S. Senate seat.

On Friday, former U.S. President Donald Trump announced that he has asked Darline Graham, the sister of the late Senator Lindsey Graham, to run for the U.S. Senate in the upcoming Republican primary special election in South Carolina scheduled for August 11.
Trump expressed his support on his social media platform Truth Social, stating, "I hope Darline takes that step; there will be no one better to honor the legacy of her beloved brother Lindsey," and added that she "will have his endorsement."
Earlier last week, Lindsey Graham’s office announced that the senator passed away late Saturday night due to heart disease caused by atherosclerosis. Lindsey Graham had been both a fierce critic and later a strong ally of Trump.
South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster, a Republican, appointed Darline Graham on Monday to fill the vacant Senate seat until the first week of January.
Currently, Republicans hold a slim majority in both the Senate and the House of Representatives ahead of the midterm congressional elections in November.
Memorial services for the late Senator Lindsey Graham will be held on July 28 in Washington, D.C., and on July 29 in South Carolina.
