Trump Urges Senate Republicans to End Filibuster for SAVE America Act Before Midterms
Donald Trump called on Senate Republicans to abolish the filibuster and pass the SAVE America Act ahead of the November midterm elections.

Former President Donald Trump has urged Republican senators to eliminate the parliamentary filibuster mechanism and to stop obstructing the passage of the SAVE America Act.
In a post on the Truth Social platform, Trump called for the use of the "nuclear option," referring to a decisive and unprecedented move to remove the 60-vote threshold imposed by the filibuster. He also demanded that the legislation be approved before the congressional August recess.
Trump stated that ending the filibuster is the only way to overcome Democratic opposition and enact critical laws for his administration.
He regards this legislation as a fundamental measure to ensure the integrity of the upcoming midterm elections scheduled for November.
The SAVE America Act requires voters to present official documents proving U.S. citizenship as a mandatory condition for voter registration and participation in federal elections. It also includes proposals to restrict mail-in voting, limiting it to exceptional cases such as illness, travel, or military service.
Although the House of Representatives succeeded in passing portions of the bill by incorporating them into essential funding legislation, the Senate has reached a deadlock under the leadership of John Thune due to insufficient votes to pass the law.
Opponents and Democrats argue that the law will hinder minorities and low-income groups from accessing the polls because of the cost and difficulty of obtaining the required documents. Critics also contend that the bill is based on unsubstantiated claims of widespread voter fraud by non-citizens in previous elections.
