UKMTO Reports Unidentified Projectile Strike on Vessel Off Oman Coast

The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) confirmed it received a report of a vessel struck by an unidentified projectile off the coast of Oman.

According to a UKMTO statement, the incident occurred 18 nautical miles east of Khasab in the Sultanate of Oman.

A trusted source reported that the vessel sustained damage from the unidentified projectile, resulting in a fire that was subsequently extinguished. No environmental effects have been reported.

UKMTO stated the vessel and its crew are safe, and authorities are conducting an investigation into the incident.

The agency advised all vessels transiting the area to exercise caution and to report any suspicious activity immediately.

In a separate development earlier the same day, the UAE’s Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) announced that one of its vessels had been targeted by a missile while transiting the Strait of Hormuz in the early hours of Saturday.

ADNOC said the attack caused no injuries and that the situation was brought under control, as reported by the Emirates News Agency.

Iranian media outlets, citing satellite imagery, reported a fire aboard an oil tanker in the southern corridor of the Strait of Hormuz.
