The United States Air Force stated on Thursday that it will investigate an officer who, while in uniform, called for the removal of President Donald Trump and Vice President G. D. Vance during a demonstration outside the Capitol building, according to Reuters.

A video posted online showed Major Jason Watson condemning Trump and Vance on Wednesday for actions including initiating a war against Iran without Congressional authorization.

The footage also captured Capitol police arresting Watson, who was holding a protest sign demanding a vote of no confidence against Trump and Vance, as well as their removal and indictment.

Without explicitly naming Watson, the office of Air Force Chief Troy Mink confirmed reports of an Air Force officer protesting at the Capitol, stating in a release that the investigation "will proceed without any hindrance."

The office added in a post on X that the administration takes allegations of misconduct seriously, including any claims that could undermine the nonpartisan nature of the military.

US military service regulations restrict political activities of service members, especially while in uniform. Article 88 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice prohibits officers from using "contemptuous words against the President, Vice President, Congress," among others.

Watson acknowledged awareness of the risks involved in his actions, emphasizing that "what matters far more than my identity is what I want to say and the price I am willing to pay to say it."
