The United States Central Command (Centcom) issued a statement on the platform X denying claims made by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) that two oil tankers exploded in the Strait of Hormuz after striking mines in the international waterway.

The Centcom statement described the IRGC's allegation as false, stating: "Like most claims from the Revolutionary Guard, this assertion is untrue."

Earlier, the IRGC reported that two oil tankers suffered explosions and extensive fires while attempting to pass through the southern route of the Strait of Hormuz.

The IRGC declared in its statement that the strait was "completely closed" to navigation until the cessation of American attacks.

It further claimed that the tankers entered a passage it described as "mined" in the southern part of the Strait of Hormuz and asserted that the vessels attempted to transit "under the deception of American intelligence agencies."

The IRGC added that the incident caused widespread fires aboard the two tankers but did not provide details regarding the identity, nationality, or the extent of human or material losses involved.
