U.S. Central Command announced it disabled the guidance system of the Panamanian-flagged vessel Villa Nova and redirected 55 ships attempting to violate sanctions against Iran.

The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) stated it disabled the navigation system of the Panamanian-flagged vessel Villa Nova earlier on Tuesday. A U.S. Navy helicopter fired two missiles at the ship’s engine room, halting its movement toward Iran.
CENTCOM reported that, as of Tuesday, it had redirected 55 vessels it assessed as attempting to breach sanctions imposed on Iran. The command also disabled three ships and boarded two others on the same day.
