US Deputy Undersecretary: AI Could Win Wars Before They Begin
US Deputy Undersecretary of Defense for Research and Engineering Emil Michael said AI could enhance combat effectiveness and deter potential adversaries, aiming to “fight and win the battle before it starts.”

Emil Michael, US Deputy Undersecretary of Defense for Research and Engineering, stated that artificial intelligence has the potential to strengthen the US military’s combat operational effectiveness and bolster deterrence against prospective adversaries.
Speaking at a Washington event hosted by Breitbart News focused on AI applications, Michael said: “I hope you fight the battle and win it before it starts, right? That is the goal: using AI for deterrence.”
He explained that advances in AI technologies would assist military personnel in selecting the most cost-effective weapon systems for use during combat operations.
