The US Central Command (Centcom) reported early Tuesday that its forces carried out strikes described as "defensive" targeting locations in southern Iran. This operation was part of efforts to protect American troops from Iranian threats.

Centcom spokesperson Tim Hawkins told Fox News that the strikes hit Iranian missile launch sites and boats that were attempting to deploy naval mines. He emphasized that the mission was conducted under a policy of "self-defense."

Hawkins added that US forces "continue to protect their personnel with restraint" despite the ongoing ceasefire agreement.

In a related development, the Iranian news agency Daneshjoo reported that three individuals were killed in an attack early Tuesday in southern areas of Lark Island, located in Hormozgan Province near the Strait of Hormuz. The agency attributed the attack to the "American-Israeli enemy."

Daneshjoo identified the three victims as Abbas Eslami, Ghadart Zarnakari, and Abed Reza Ghalzari.

Sources confirmed that the final casualty count remains unknown as verification and field investigations continue.

Earlier reports mentioned hearing explosions in southern regions near Bandar Abbas, although no official clarifications have been issued regarding the nature of the attack or the extent of the resulting damage.
