US House Speaker Warns Against Live Broadcast of Nidal Hasan Execution, Calling It a Tool for Recruiting Terrorists
House Speaker Mike Johnson expressed reservations about the potential live broadcast of Nidal Hasan's execution, warning it could serve as a recruitment tool for terrorists.

US House Speaker, Republican Mike Johnson, expressed his reservations on Monday during an interview with CBS News regarding the potential live broadcast of the execution of the perpetrator of an attack targeting American soldiers.
Johnson stated that "the concern lies in creating a video clip that is used as a tool to recruit terrorists in the future," adding, "We must consider the political consequences of all this."
He confirmed that he would not watch the execution if it were broadcast live, according to his remarks.
US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth had previously mentioned that Nidal Hasan, an Army psychiatrist who killed 13 people in a shooting at a military base in 2009, would be executed by firing squad and that the execution would be broadcast live online, sparking outrage among both Republicans and Democrats.
During the interview aired by CBS News on Monday, Johnson affirmed that this idea does not have the support of all his colleagues in the House of Representatives.
However, US President Donald Trump confirmed that the decision regarding this broadcast has not yet been finalized.
