The US military declared on Monday that the blockade imposed on Iranian ports will remain in effect until the ceasefire agreement with Iran, scheduled for June 19, is completed.

In a guidance memo reported by Reuters, the military stated, "The military blockade on Iranian ports remains in place, restricting traffic to and from these ports."

The memo further advised, "Do not attempt to transit unless explicit instructions are issued."

Previously, in remarks to The New York Times, US President Donald Trump affirmed that the agreement reached with Iran will ultimately ensure that the Strait of Hormuz is "permanently free of fees."

Trump also posted on the Truth Social platform that the deal with Iran "is now complete," officially authorizing a "fee-free opening" of the Strait of Hormuz.

He called for the immediate removal of the US naval blockade on Iranian ports and instructed global vessels to "start their engines" and "let the oil flow."

This announcement from Trump contrasts with official statements from Tehran, which claim full sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz and affirm their commitment to safe navigation, but "under their own arrangements that include coordination, licensing, security, and environmental services."
