The US military announced on Saturday that it has disabled and redirected 122 ships since the naval blockade on Iran began on April 13.

The US Central Command stated on its official "X" platform account that American forces operating in the Gulf of Oman imposed blockade measures by disabling a Gambian-flagged vessel attempting to sail toward an Iranian port on May 29.

The statement added that Central Command forces tracked a commercial ship crossing international waters toward an Iranian port located on the Gulf of Oman.

More than 20 warnings were sent to the vessel, informing it that it was violating the US blockade.

After the ship’s crew failed to comply with orders, a US aircraft disabled the vessel by firing a Hellfire missile at its engine room.

The statement confirmed that the ship ceased its journey toward Iran.

It further clarified that US forces had disabled five commercial ships and redirected 116 others as part of the blockade enforcement against Iran.

The announcement emphasized that the ceasefire with Iran remains in effect.

This disclosure comes amid stalled US-Iran negotiations aimed at reaching an agreement to end the war.
