US Reinstates Sanctions on Francesca Albanese
The US Treasury has re-added Francesca Albanese to its sanctions list after a federal judge temporarily suspended her penalties earlier in May.

The US Treasury Department has reinstated Francesca Albanese, the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Palestinian territories, to its list of individuals subject to American sanctions.
Washington initially imposed sanctions on Albanese in July 2025, citing her efforts to encourage the International Criminal Court to take action against officials, companies, and executives in the United States and Israel.
Earlier in May, Albanese's name was removed from the sanctions list following a temporary injunction issued by a federal judge after legal action taken by her husband and daughter.
Judge Richard Leon in Washington ruled that the Trump administration likely violated her freedom of expression rights by imposing the sanctions after she criticized Israel's war in Gaza.
However, on Friday, a three-judge panel from the US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit issued an administrative order suspending Judge Leon’s ruling, allowing the government to once again designate Albanese as a foreign national subject to sanctions.
