The Israeli army and Shin Bet officially announced that they 'eliminated the so-called Izz al-Din al-Haddad, the commander of Hamas's military wing, and one of the last senior Hamas leaders who stood behind the bloody October 7 massacre.'

The Israeli army spokesman Avichay Adraee said via the 'X' platform: 'Throughout the war, al-Haddad was involved in holding a large number of Israeli abductees by Hamas. He also managed the system of holding abductees in the grip of the terrorist Hamas and surrounded himself with Israeli abductees to prevent his elimination. Al-Haddad is considered one of the oldest Hamas leaders, as he joined its ranks during its founding period, and during his years of activity in the organization, he played a central role in the rule of terror and held a series of prominent positions, including commander of the Gaza City brigade and commander of additional units. Al-Haddad is considered one of the last senior leaders of Hamas's military wing who oversaw the planning and execution of the October 7 massacre, and the management of the fighting against IDF forces.'
