Zelensky Responds to Trump with Conditions for De-escalation

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky tied steps toward de-escalation to Russia halting its attacks on Ukraine’s energy sector, critical infrastructure, and food exports, ahead of his anticipated meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump in New York.

He wrote on the platform "X," in response to a post by Trump about attacks on Russian oil industry: "Russia must stop targeting Ukraine’s energy sector, critical infrastructure, and our food exports—this will lead to similar de-escalation steps from our side."

Trump had said on the platform "Truth Social": "Unfortunately, Russia has lost control over its diesel fuel sector," pointing out that a large portion of Russian refineries have been bombed and shut down.

He added: "This foolish, endless war with Ukraine must end."
