A 20-year-old man pleaded guilty to secretly filming a young woman and her mother in their Singapore home, with ten videos discovered on his device.

In Singapore, a nineteen-year-old woman screamed after noticing a smartphone extended through her bathroom window while she was showering. The incident occurred on April 8, 2026, within a public housing estate. Upon hearing the victim’s cry, the suspect fled the scene immediately.
Police investigations revealed that the twenty-year-old perpetrator had previously recorded both the young woman and her fifty-five-year-old mother. A forensic examination of the suspect’s mobile phone uncovered ten distinct video files captured between March 30 and April 8. These recordings showed the nineteen-year-old victim during various private activities, including showering, changing clothes, and using the toilet.
At approximately 9:20 PM on the day of the incident, the suspect entered a nearby sports area. He climbed onto a ledge outside the apartment where the young woman resided, attempting to look inside. However, closed curtains prevented him from seeing anything, prompting him to return to the sports ground.
About thirty minutes later, the suspect heard the sound of running water coming from the apartment. He approached the exterior of the bathroom and inserted his phone through the window to begin recording. This act led to the discovery by the victim and the subsequent flight of the perpetrator.
The investigation established that the suspect had also secretly filmed the victim’s fifty-five-year-old mother in the bathroom on March 22. Consequently, both family members had been subjected to voyeuristic surveillance on different dates. During court proceedings, it was noted that the events significantly affected the young woman’s mental state.
The victim reported feeling vulnerable and unsafe within her own home following the ordeal. The family has since adopted strict precautions, such as ensuring bathroom windows are closed before showering, to prevent further intrusions.
The accused appeared in court on October 27, 2026, where he admitted guilt to two separate charges of voyeurism. Authorities indicated that a third charge would be considered during the sentencing phase. To protect the identities of the nineteen-year-old victim and her mother, the court issued a publication ban.
The final sentencing hearing has been scheduled for December 17. The case highlights issues regarding privacy violations in residential areas, with police having identified the suspect shortly after the initial report made by the victim’s mother.
