Corrections and Updates

Last updated: May 14, 2026

Daily Beirut is committed to publishing factually accurate stories. When we make a mistake, we correct it visibly, promptly, and on the article itself.

How We Handle Errors

Corrections fall into four categories:

Typographical edit — A spelling, grammatical, or formatting fix that does not change the meaning of the story. Made silently.

Clarification — Where the original wording could have been misread, we update the wording and add a note appended to the article.

Correction — Where we have published an incorrect fact, we update the fact and append a clearly labeled corrections box at the foot of the article. The box is dated and explains what was wrong and what is now correct.

Retraction — Where a story’s central claim is found to be unsupported and cannot be repaired by correction, we retract the story. The original URL displays a retraction notice explaining why.

Reporting an Error

If you believe a Daily Beirut story contains an error, please contact us. We respond to all credible reports.

Email: [email protected]
WhatsApp: +961 3 125 422

When reporting an error, please include:

  • The URL of the story
  • The specific passage you believe to be incorrect
  • Why you believe it is incorrect, and any source we should consult

Response Time

We aim to acknowledge correction requests within 48 hours and to publish or decline a correction within 72 hours of acknowledgement. Where independent verification takes longer, we say so.

Editorial Independence and Removal Requests

We do not remove published stories at the request of subjects, advertisers, or governments. We correct errors and update stories as facts develop, but we do not delete the record. For data-protection or demonstrated legal requests, see our privacy policy and terms of use.
