16-Year-Old Footballer Dies in Motorbike Collision During Police Follow
A 16-year-old footballer died after her motorbike collided with a lorry amid a police vehicle following the group in Río Cuarto, Argentina.

A 16-year-old footballer lost her life following a motorbike crash involving a lorry in Río Cuarto, Córdoba Province, Argentina, on June 2. The incident occurred at the intersection of Catamarca and Juan Díaz de Solís streets.
Guadalupe Ludmila Lozano was riding a motorbike with two other teenagers aged 14 and 15 when the collision happened. Both passengers sustained serious injuries, including multiple fractures, with one remaining in critical condition in intensive care.
Eyewitnesses reported that a police patrol car was closely trailing the motorbike shortly before the crash. Some witnesses claimed the police vehicle may have made contact with the rear of the motorbike, potentially causing Guadalupe to lose control.
Prosecutor Pablo Jávega, overseeing the investigation, confirmed that a Córdoba Provincial Police patrol car was behind the motorbike but characterized the situation as a "following" rather than a high-speed chase. He noted the possibility that the police were conducting a traffic stop but was unsure if a 911 call had been made prior to the event.
Authorities are currently reviewing CCTV footage, collecting witness testimonies, and awaiting forensic analyses. These efforts aim to clarify the sequence of events, including vehicle speeds, braking evidence, and any contact between vehicles.
Guadalupe’s father, Maximiliano Lozano, has publicly expressed the family's distress and their wish for clarity regarding the circumstances. He mentioned receiving accounts from neighbors and witnesses but stated that official investigators have yet to reach out to the family directly.
He also revealed that the motorbike was a gift he gave Guadalupe in December and was typically used for short trips near their home. He suggested that she might have become frightened upon noticing the police vehicle and dismissed rumors that she stopped to assist the other teenagers in evading the police.
Guadalupe was a promising football player affiliated with local clubs Estudiantes and Renato Cesarini. Both clubs issued statements mourning her death. Estudiantes expressed condolences to her family, teammates, and loved ones, while Renato Cesarini described the loss as a moment of immense sadness for their community.
The football community in Río Cuarto has been deeply affected by Guadalupe’s passing, remembering her passion and potential in women’s football.
The 32-year-old lorry driver involved in the crash is cooperating with authorities and has not been detained. The investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
