Arne Slott Reflects on Liverpool Departure After Dismissal
Arne Slott shared his first remarks following his dismissal as Liverpool's coach after a challenging second season with the club.

Arne Slott, the Dutch coach, issued his initial statement after Liverpool announced his departure on Saturday.
Liverpool endured a difficult previous season, finishing fifth in the English Premier League standings and suffering 18 defeats across all competitions.
Slott left the club after failing to maintain the football identity Liverpool had established over the past nine years, and he did not secure any trophies during the last season.
Following his dismissal, Slott told transfer expert Fabrizio Romano: "It was a wonderful journey with Liverpool, and I am very grateful that we managed to win the league last season."
Slott took over Liverpool's coaching role in 2024, succeeding German coach Jürgen Klopp, and impressed everyone in his first season by leading the team to the Premier League title.
However, his second season saw a shift from defending the championship to a desperate battle for a Champions League spot, with the team failing to win any domestic trophies, marking a significant decline for the reigning champions.
In its statement on Slott's dismissal, Liverpool said the search for his successor is underway. Media reports have linked Spanish coach Andoni Iraola to the position after he led Bournemouth to a sixth-place finish in the league and qualification for the Europa League for the first time.
