Four arrests were made after an Arsenal fan was allegedly thrown down stairs at the London Stadium during West Ham's 1-0 loss.
Four people were arrested at the London Stadium on Sunday after an Arsenal fan was allegedly thrown down a flight of stairs in the home end during the Gunners' 1-0 win over West Ham. The incident, which was captured on video and went viral on social media, shows the fan trying to run down the stairs and out of the stadium as angry West Ham supporters chased him. He then stumbled and fell down the bottom half of the stairs.
Leandro Trossard's 83rd-minute strike put Arsenal on the brink of a first Premier League title in over two decades. The match was overshadowed by a VAR decision to rule out a 90th-minute equaliser from West Ham's Callum Wilson due to a foul on Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya. Around 3,000 Arsenal fans were in attendance, with some reportedly making their way into the home end.
Metropolitan Police confirmed four arrests were made at the London Stadium on Sunday, 10 May. Two men, aged 48 and 36, were arrested on suspicion of affray and assault. A teenage boy was arrested on suspicion of racially aggravated assault. A fourth man, aged 31, was arrested for possession of a Class B substance. All four were taken into custody and remain there. Police said they continue to work with the football club while enquiries continue.
Football grounds have strict rules forbidding the purchasing of tickets in opposing ends of stadiums due to the increased threat of violence among fans. Daily Star Sport has contacted West Ham for comment.
