Egyptian international Omar Marmoush has emerged as a top target for FC Barcelona, which is looking to bolster its attack ahead of a potential summer departure for Robert Lewandowski. The Catalan club views the Manchester City forward as a prime candidate to lead its frontline in the coming phase.

According to the “City Exclusive” account on X, Barcelona is currently the frontrunner to make a move for Marmoush as part of the club’s plan to secure a new striker capable of handling the responsibility up front. The report indicates that Manchester City is not opposed to letting the player go if a suitable offer arrives, and the English club has set a valuation between €60 million and €65 million to approve a sale during the summer transfer window.

Competition for Marmoush

Omar Marmoush has yet to secure a permanent starting role in Pep Guardiola’s lineup, despite his significant technical abilities and strong performances in several matches since joining the team. This situation has led Barcelona’s management to view the player as a suitable option both technically and financially, especially as signing Argentine Julián Álvarez appears more complicated and costly at the moment.

The report confirmed that interest in signing Marmoush is expected to intensify in the coming period, though no official contacts have yet been made between Barcelona and Manchester City regarding a potential deal. Alongside Barcelona, the Egyptian player is also attracting interest from English clubs Aston Villa and Tottenham, as well as Spanish side Atlético Madrid.

2026 World Cup Preparations

Omar Marmoush is preparing to represent Egypt at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will feature 48 teams for the first time in history. The World Cup draw placed Egypt in Group Seven alongside Belgium, Iran, and New Zealand.
