Cristiano Ronaldo told Vogue he is “likely” in his final football season, aims to leave an “exceptional legacy,” and has fully mapped out his future beyond the sport.

Cristiano Ronaldo, who has cemented his status among football’s greatest players with over 950 goals for clubs and national teams, told Vogue magazine that this is “likely” his final season in the sport. He stated, “This is likely my last year in football, and I want to leave an exceptional legacy.” Ronaldo added that his life after football is “fully mapped out.”
“I have many things keeping me busy — it’s hard to name just one,” Ronaldo said, listing travel and paddle tennis among his favorite activities. Reflecting on the transition from professional football, he noted, “Because football can leave a big void, you must fill your time in different ways — not just one way.”
Ronaldo recently married his long-term Argentine partner, Georgina Rodríguez, in a private ceremony held on Tuesday at the Cascais resort in Portugal. In the same Vogue interview, he expressed his intention to “continue enjoying what I’ve earned, what we’ve earned,” adding, “After all, it’s been 25 years full of sacrifices” — a reference to his decorated, achievement-laden career.
Following his leadership of Portugal to the Round of 16 in what he described as his final World Cup appearance this summer, Ronaldo is set to join his club Al-Nassr in preparation for the new Saudi Pro League season.
