A seven-goal margin separated the teams at Stadion HNK Rijeka on Saturday as England dismantled Croatia 7-0 in their UEFA Nations League fixture. The result marked the first time since 1967 that the Three Lions secured nine competitive away victories outside major tournaments.

Kane’s unprecedented scoring run

Harry Kane opened the scoring in the eighth minute, converting Jude Bellingham’s pass into the roof of the net. The Bayern Munich striker later extended his tally in the 50th minute, tapping home after Elliot Anderson slipped him the ball. This achievement makes Kane the first England player to register at least 10 goals in three different calendar years.

Gordon and Saka contribute heavily

Anthony Gordon was involved in the second goal, sliding the ball across for Bellingham to tap in. Although Dominik Livakovic initially denied Gordon from doubling the lead, the Barcelona forward eventually found the net with a diving header from Jarell Quansah’s cross. Moments earlier, Bellingham had nearly assisted Gordon again, but the winger hit his effort straight at the goalkeeper.

Bukayo Saka added a fourth goal before halftime, scoring from close range following another pass from Bellingham. He made it six for England in the 68th minute, capitalizing on a defensive mistake. Morgan Rogers completed the scoring by running onto Bellingham’s pass, rounding the goalkeeper, and slotting the ball into the net.

Croatian misses and English chances

Mateo Kovacic missed an opportunity to pull one back for Croatia. He dispossessed Elliot Anderson and rounded Jordan Pickford, only to slice his effort wide. Bellingham squandered a good chance to join Kane on a brace before the hour mark, failing to hit the target from a promising position.

England returns to action on Tuesday, facing Czechia at Wembley.
