Spanish coach Luis Enrique celebrated another milestone in his managerial career by leading Paris Saint-Germain to retain the UEFA Champions League title for the second consecutive season, following their victory over Arsenal in the final held on Saturday evening.

After the match, Enrique addressed several topics, focusing particularly on the penalty shootout that favored his team in the final. He emphasized that deciding a match by penalties does not diminish the quality or performance of either side.

In comments reported by the Spanish newspaper Marca, Enrique recalled, "I lost on penalties while coaching Spain against Morocco in the Qatar World Cup, and I was heavily criticized for that," referring to the intense scrutiny he faced from media and fans.

He added, "It depends on the quality of the players and the goalkeepers, and penalty shootouts do not alter the overall assessment of Arsenal's performance or that of my team."

Enrique also spoke about the challenging nature of the match against Mikel Arteta's squad, noting that PSG struggled significantly after conceding the first goal but gradually managed to recover throughout the game.

"Arsenal is an extremely competitive team and has lost very few matches this season. They started well and scored early, so we had to work hard to come back. In the second half, we appeared stronger, and I believe we deserved to win, although Arsenal also played a great game," he stated.

The Spanish coach praised his players' efforts throughout the season, highlighting that their continuous desire to improve was a key factor behind the European club's success.

Players' Commitment and Historic Achievement

He explained, "These players are different; sometimes I ask them to stop training, but they keep working. When a player enjoys what they do, everything becomes easier, which is why I am confident the team will remain competitive next season."

Regarding his consecutive Champions League titles with Paris Saint-Germain, Enrique said, "The first was historic, and the second will be even more historic. The club needed to establish itself among Europe's elite, and now it is part of that group, and we do not want to fall back."
