French courts dismiss Mbappé’s harassment suit against PSG
L'Équipe reports that French judiciary rejected Kylian Mbappé's moral harassment lawsuit against Paris Saint-Germain due to insufficient evidence.

The legal confrontation between Kylian Mbappé and Paris Saint-Germain has reached its final chapter, with the French judiciary rejecting the Real Madrid forward’s "moral harassment" complaint against his former club. According to a report by L'Équipe on Friday, courts dismissed the case for lack of sufficient evidence, effectively ending what was described as the most explosive legal battle in French football history.
Court ruling details
Mbappé’s legal team initially filed the lawsuit during an ongoing dispute over unpaid dues, accusing PSG management of exerting psychological pressure and workplace harassment. Although the player later withdrew the complaint, the public prosecution continued the investigation independently. In May, investigating judges decided not to proceed with the case, citing that it was "impossible to continue the proceedings, because the plaintiff himself does not support the lawsuit."
Origins of the conflict
The roots of this dispute trace back to the beginning of the 2022-2023 season. PSG management excluded Mbappé from the first team, forcing him to train with other sidelined players after he refused to activate a contract extension clause. The player alleged that the club attempted to coerce him into renewing his contract or leaving for a substantial fee, fearing they would lose him without compensation at the end of his deal.
This standoff persisted for several weeks until coach Luis Enrique intervened during his first year. He reintegrated Mbappé into the main squad, allowing the striker to finish the season before moving to Real Madrid on a free transfer in summer 2024.
Financial settlement impact
During the exclusion period, PSG withheld portions of Mbappé’s salary and bonuses. The club claimed these deductions were part of a verbal agreement with president Nasser Al-Khelaifi regarding his return to the first team. This prompted Mbappé to launch a comprehensive legal campaign in May 2025, which included the now-dismissed harassment complaint.
Mbappé ultimately dropped the harassment lawsuit after a labour court ruled in his favour in the contractual dispute. The court ordered Paris Saint-Germain to pay €61 million in outstanding dues. The Parisian club did not appeal this decision, rendering the ruling final and binding.
End of a historic era
This latest judicial decision officially closes all remaining legal disputes between the two parties. It concludes a narrative that began in 2017 when Mbappé transferred from Monaco to Paris for €180 million, a deal ranking as the second most expensive in history. During his tenure, he became the club’s all-time top scorer and secured seven Ligue 1 titles before starting a new career phase with Real Madrid.
