Jack Colback has highlighted Elliot Anderson's potential to rank among the very best midfielders, describing him as an "old-fashioned" player capable of fulfilling multiple roles on the pitch. Anderson, currently a sought-after talent at Nottingham Forest, is reportedly attracting attention from both Manchester City and Manchester United, who are considering substantial transfer offers.

Securing Anderson's transfer would be a challenging endeavor, given Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis's reputation for tough negotiations. Marinakis is unlikely to approve any deal unless it offers significant financial benefits to Nottingham Forest. Should Anderson be sold, the club could reinvest the proceeds into other areas, boosting their collective resources.

Market speculation suggests Anderson's transfer fee could exceed £100 million ($134 million), a figure that Manchester clubs would need to meet to acquire the midfielder. Anderson is expected to be a key figure for England at the upcoming World Cup, with Thomas Tuchel planning to include him in the squad for the Three Lions.

What Defines Anderson’s Midfield Role

Speaking in association with Bally Bet, former Forest midfielder Jack Colback outlined Anderson's comprehensive skill set. He described Anderson as a player who combines defensive solidity with creative playmaking and offensive contributions, stating, "He’s just very, very good. He’s a very old-fashioned kind of midfielder, where he does everything."

Colback elaborated, "Nowadays, you've got kind of No. 6, No. 8, No. 10, those sorts of positions. Elliot just does it all. His defensive play is fantastic. On the ball, he dictates play and is very good. He is creative and he also gets forward. He’s one of those that does it all. He could be one of the very best.”

Other Nottingham Forest Standouts

Alongside Anderson, Morgan Gibbs-White has also been delivering impressive performances for Nottingham Forest. The Brazilian centre-back Murillo has stood out in defense, with Colback noting his distinctive qualities since joining the club. He commented, "I've watched him a few times. Live in the stadium, he's one of them who kind of looks like he's got a mistake in him. But he reads the game so well and reacts so well."

Colback added that Murillo's absence due to injuries has impacted Forest's form this season, and praised the club's recruitment strategy, saying, "I think it's credit to the club, the recruitment has been really, really good for a good few years now - credit to the owner for that.”

Future Prospects at Nottingham Forest

Murillo has recently signed a contract extension at Nottingham Forest that will keep him at the club until 2030. Should he fulfill this contract, he could join Morgan Gibbs-White in becoming a modern-day club legend. Jack Colback, who was part of Forest's 2022 promotion-winning squad, has also returned to the club's familiar environment.

Nottingham Forest’s front-of-shirt sponsor, Bally Bet, has been actively recognizing long-serving grassroots players. Forest legend Mark Crossley was tasked with assembling the first-ever Bally Bet All-Stars Vets squad, composed of notable grassroots football figures. This squad received Premier League-style treatment by playing against a team of hand-picked Forest legends at the City Ground on May 28.
