La Liga Titles: Players Who Outpaced Cristiano Ronaldo
Cristiano Ronaldo won just two La Liga titles in nine seasons at Real Madrid. A report highlights several players, including Lamine Yamal and Robert Lewandowski, who have more Spanish league trophies to their name.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s legacy as one of football’s greatest scorers is beyond dispute. During his time at Real Madrid, he netted 450 goals in 438 appearances, collected four Champions League trophies, and earned four Ballon d'Or awards. Yet his domestic record in Spain tells a different story.
Over nine seasons in La Liga, the Portuguese superstar secured only two league titles. That tally places him behind a surprising number of players, many of whom are still active or have had far less prolific careers. Planet Football recently highlighted this curious disparity.
Young Stars and Veterans Ahead
Lamine Yamal, still a teenager, already holds three La Liga winners’ medals. The Barcelona prodigy debuted under Xavi Hernandez with limited minutes during his first title-winning campaign, but quickly grew into a decisive contributor for subsequent triumphs. Teammates Pedri, Gavi, Ronald Araujo, and Jules Kounde also boast more Spanish league titles than Ronaldo, despite being early in their careers.
Robert Lewandowski arrived at Barcelona at a relatively advanced age, yet he outpaced Ronaldo’s domestic trophy count in a shorter span. The Polish striker won La Liga in his debut season and has added further titles since, achieving a high success rate relative to his time in Spain.
Veterans and Unexpected Names
David Villa spent years at Valencia without winning La Liga, but his move to Barcelona changed his fortunes. He claimed two league titles with the Catalans and added a third with Atletico Madrid, surpassing Ronaldo’s total of two.
Gonzalo Higuain joined Real Madrid before Ronaldo’s arrival and was part of title wins in 2006-2007 and 2007-2008. He later collected a third La Liga crown during Ronaldo’s tenure. Despite never being the team’s leading star, Higuain’s timing gave him a numerical edge over the Portuguese forward.
Vinícius Júnior emerged as a key figure for Real Madrid after Ronaldo’s departure in 2018. The Brazilian has already accumulated more La Liga titles than his predecessor, alongside major European successes.
The most peculiar case is Álvaro Odriozola. Never a regular starter, the right-back won multiple La Liga titles with Real Madrid, Real Sociedad, and Bayern Munich. His limited playing time during some of those campaigns underscores how being in the right squad can sometimes outweigh individual prominence.
