Manchester United has intensified its pursuit of Aurelien Tchouameni from Real Madrid, with plans underway to engage in discussions with the Spanish club’s officials.

According to Spanish journalist Jose Felix Diaz, United’s sporting director Jason Wilcox is leading efforts to negotiate with Real Madrid in the upcoming days. The club has been closely following Tchouameni’s progress for several years and is prepared to invest significantly to secure his transfer.

Contract Offer Details for Tchouameni

Jose Felix Diaz, speaking on the Ruben Martin live stream, revealed that Manchester United has extended a “very good” five-year contract offer to the French midfielder. Tchouameni, who joined Real Madrid from AS Monaco in 2022, currently has two years left on his contract with the Santiago Bernabeu club.

While the exact financial terms of the offer remain undisclosed, Diaz emphasized that the proposal is attractive enough to potentially sway the player’s decision.

Wage Expectations Comparable to Casemiro

Separate reports from The Sun indicate that Tchouameni is expected to seek wages on par with Casemiro’s previous salary at Manchester United, the player he is anticipated to replace. Casemiro earned £350,000 per week during his time at Old Trafford.

This high wage demand influenced INEOS’s choice not to activate Casemiro’s contract extension, despite his strong performances under Michael Carrick. At 26, Tchouameni is entering the prime years of his career, making a weekly salary exceeding £300,000 a justifiable investment for United.

Recognized as one of Europe’s top defensive midfielders, Tchouameni’s acquisition would require substantial financial commitment, especially given the spending levels of clubs like Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur on their midfield targets.
