Mbappé Calls Yamal “He Has Everything” in L’Équipe Interview

“He has everything.” Those were the words Kylian Mbappé, 27, used to describe Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal during a recent interview with L’Équipe in France.

The Real Madrid forward made the remark while discussing emerging players on the global stage. He declined to rank the top ten or fifteen players in the world, saying, “I don’t want to name names because if I forget someone… To say who the ten or fifteen best players in the world are, I think everyone would agree.”

Among youth prospects, Mbappé singled out Yamal first. He then cited several others: “I also like Estevão; he has a special creativity. Here, Arda Güler can go very far. Endrick has potential; he’s a goalscorer. Warren (Zaïre-Emery) and Désiré (Doué) are going to have great careers, for sure.”

Champions League debuts and Ballon d’Or shortlist

Mbappé and Yamal both featured prominently in their clubs’ opening Champions League matches this season, helping Real Madrid and Barcelona secure three points each as their European campaigns began.

Both attackers also appear on the official 30-man shortlist for the 2026 Ballon d’Or — a list widely viewed as containing the strongest contenders for the award.

Club rivalry set aside

Mbappé’s comments came amid ongoing media attention on the competitive dynamic between Real Madrid and Barcelona. He explicitly set club allegiances aside when assessing Yamal’s abilities, framing his praise as a recognition of individual talent rather than institutional affiliation.
